Blue Throated Barbet

I have moved to a new home http://sillyreflections.com See you there! You can read this article directly here: Blue Throated Barbet

This bird is so colorful that its hard to miss it when among the woods, but once inside dense foliage, no matter how hard you try, you wont be able to spot it. Perhaps Blue-throated Barbet’s colorful head will be of help in this situation, with primary colors blue green and red present. This bird loves Common Fig and Peepal tree (the tree under which Lord Buddha got enlightenment), well maybe all Ficus species for their delicious fruits and deciduous nature. They are generally spotted early morning having community breakfasts with other birds like Koels, Bulbuls, Magpie Robins and other Barbet species found here. To see other species of birds found in our campus, go to this Checklist!

  5. What a beautiful bird! And these are great shots. I hope to get to India some day. From photographs I have seen at the Art Institute of Chicago, your country is as colorful as the birds. I’ll be checking out the rest of your blog. Thanks so much,.

  8. I’m always envious of how colorfull birds are in Tropics. Our birds (in Ukraine) moslty have gradations of gray, brown. Even if it’s a colorful bird (Parus for example) colors are dilute.
